HOW IT WORKS
When a Crystal Singing Bowl is played,
the vibrations and energy created hit our bodies and create resonance. According to physics, resonance is the reinforcement of sound by reflection from a surface or by the synchronous vibration of a neighbouring object. Therefore it can be said that when two energy systems encounter each other (quartz and our bodies), the two vibrations come into the state of harmonic vibration.
It is this discovery of resonance between quartz and our bodies that led the quartz crystal singing bowl into the hands of sound therapists and holistic practitioners. The vibration of a quartz crystal singing bowl can be scientifically defined as a sine wave. A sine wave is a pure tone that is repeated over and over again to produce a frequency. The quartz crystal singing bowl is the only musical instrument that can produce a sine wave.
Quartz Crystal and Alchemy Singing Bowls
Made from 99.9 percent pure quartz crystal; a naturally occurring element, along with other crystals and precious metals, depending on each unique bowl. The crystal is placed in a mold and heated to around 4000 degrees. The beauty of this process is that each bowl effectively births itself. There is no way of predicting or controlling what note or frequency each bowl will have. This is determined by the crystals that are used and the energy of these crystals and the process. Because our bodies are also composed of a crystalline structure, using Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls for meditation allows the cells in our bodies to respond more quickly and favourably to the sound as therapy. This is why crystals are a key element in many different holistic practices.
Scientific studies are being carried out that will eventually prove how body functions and emotional states can be altered by the use of sound waves. We currently have a huge amount of evidence to support this giving us strong evidence supporting the use of Crystal Singing Bowls in healing practices, not only for the physical body but also for the emotional body and the energy body. In fact, there are doctors currently using these Bowls for sound and music therapy to help terminally ill patients who are dealing with extreme pain management. But also, perhaps most importantly, are helping their patients reach deep relaxed states enabling the body to rest, restore and begin the natural healing process that our bodies are designed to do. The sound of the bowls can stimulate deep into the body tissues and bones which allows doctors to promote well-being from within. The calming musical tones help to heal by reinstating the natural sense of balance and harmony. This is just one of the benefits though. Crystal Singing Bowls as well as the voice can be used in a mindfulness meditation, by using sound as the anchor to return to when the mind begins to wander. Focusing on this single point in our awareness creates a deep sense of calm when practised regularly and can help overall health and well-being in the body and mind.
When the body is suffering from a physical ailment, the natural resonant frequency of sound that is produced by the body is reduced, creating an imbalance. With the resonance of Crystal Tones Bowls, a practitioner can restore balance by projecting the sound along with a healing intention from both practitioner and patient. By focusing on specific parts of the body with these healing frequencies, the body can return to a healthy and harmonic resonant frequency. While there have been studies done on this type of sound therapy, it is still in the early stages and is not recommended as a full healthcare regime. “Fabien Maman, a French scientist, acupuncturist and sound healer conducted experiments in Paris more than twenty years ago utilizing this method of sound healing. Working in a medical research lab, Maman utilized a xylophone to see how the sound would affect cancer cells. He began with the note C and then went up the chromatic scale (C, C-sharp, D, D-sharp, E, F, F-sharp, G, G-sharp, A, A-sharp, B and C— all the notes within an octave). He would strike a note, let it ring, wait for about a minute and then hit the next higher note. According to Maman, the cancer cells, which were on a slide under a microscope, were more rigid than the healthy cells surrounding them. As the tones of the xylophone went higher and higher, the cancer cells began to be affected by the sounds, beginning to change shape, until around the notes A-sharp and B, when they would explode. Maman published some impressive photographs of his work in his book The Tao of Sound.”
